Welcome to the Bioinformatics Center (BIC) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Little Rock. This is a newly created facility to aid R & D efforts in the field of medicine. The major objective of BIC is to provide the infrastructure for initiatives in four

• Immunoinformatics where the main emphasis is on T Cell epitope based vaccine design
• Proteomics that will include comparative, functional and structural proteomics
• Genomics where the main emphasis will be on comparative genomics and on analysis of microarray data
• Glycomics where the main focus will be on characterization of carbohydrate antigens

Primary laboratories engaged in this endeavor include those of Thomas Kieber-Emmons (Molecular Interaction Facility), Larry Suva (SELDI Facility), Microarray Core Facility Kevin Raney (Proteomics Facility).

Support for the BIC comes from INBRE, the Arkansas Cancer Research Center (ACRC), The Arkansas Breast Cancer Act., Tobacco Settlement Funds and The Arkansas Biosciences Institute.
